Joe Haigh

Joe Haigh joined the Mount St. Mary's women's basketball coaching staff ahead of the 2022-23 season. 

Haigh has 20 seasons of coaching experience under his belt, including a seven year tenure as the head coach at Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. Winning 93 games in charge of the Red Flash, he helped lead SFU to a Northeast Conference championship in 2018. Additional accolades include a postseason appearance and tournament win at the WBI in 2017, setting a program record for overall victories (24) and conference wins (16), ranking top five nationally for pace of play, three-point shooting, blocked shots and steals at various seasons, and coaching 24 players to all-conference honors, with nine major conference awards including three Players of the Year. 

Before his promotion to the head coaching position, he worked as an assistant for the Red Flash under Susan Robinson Fruchtl, guiding the team to NEC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2010 and 2011. Further stops along the way as an assistant include Siena, Sacred Heart, and VCU. His first coaching position was on the men's staff at Randolph Macon in Virginia, winning an ODAC title for the 2004-05 season. 

Haigh graduated from the  University of Notre Dame in 1995, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, In 2005 he received his Masters of Science in Sport Leadership from VCU. He also possesses a teaching license via the University of Virginia in 2006. Haigh played for Green River Community College team in Auburn, Washington, leading the team in both three-point and free throw percentage in 1991-92.
 
Originally from Puyallup, Washington, Haigh and his wife, Sherri, are the proud parents of five children: Anna, Teresa, Patrick, Daniel, and Mary. Sherri (Orlosky) played basketball at Notre Dame, placing top-10 all-time in program history for three-point percentage. Patrick became a member of the Mount's men's basketball at the start of the 2023-24 season.
