Imani Atkinson joined the Mount women's basketball staff in the summer of 2024.
The appointment is Atkinson's first at the Division I level. Prior to this, she worked at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland, serving as an assistant coach last season. Before that, Atkinson served as head coach for Elevate Elite 3SSB in Richmond, Virginia, leading and guiding the management of the 15U Adidas Select Elite Team.
As a player, Atkinson competed at both North Carolina Central and Limestone Universities. She logged 58 games for a Limestone Saints team that went 57-6. Stat-wise, she scored 191 points and earned 165 rebounds, alongside 44 steals, 24 steals, and eight blocks. At NCCU, she appeared in 26 games for the Eagles in her first collegiate season.
After completing two seasons at Limestone, Atkinson returned to NCCU to complete her education. She graduated in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in mass communication & journalism.
