Blacksburg, Va. (October 14, 2017) - Mount St. Mary's sophomore, Alexa Quintanilla advanced to the round of 32 in singles competition during the second day of the ITA Atlantic Regional tournament on Saturday afternoon at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
The Mount duo of Quintanilla and Megan Gamble came up short the first day of the tournament (Friday, October 13). Quintanilla and Gamble were topped 8-1 by Navy's duo of Emily Louie-Meadors and Claudia Mackenzie in the first round of doubles competition.
The 38th ranked Quintanilla defeated Georgetown's Drew Spinosa 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(6) to advance to the next round in singles action during the second day of the tournament (Saturday, October 14).
The tournament will continue tomorrow, Sunday, October 15 with the quarterfinals of doubles, the round 32 of singles, and the round 16 of singles.
