SETTING THE SCENE
The Mount St. Mary's University women's tennis team is set for the three-day Mount Invitational spanning September 22-24 in Emmitsburg. The first day of competition begins at 2 p.m. on Friday, followed by 9 a.m. starts on Saturday and Sunday.
ABOUT THE MOUNT
The Mount women's squad is set for its third tournament of the season following competition at the Bucknell Invitational and the Towson Tiger Fall Classic to open the year. Alexa Quintanilla captured the top flight singles championship to highlight competition at the Bucknell Women's Tennis Invite. Quintanilla defeated Samantha Snyder of Lafayette (7-5, 6-1), Kateri Martin of Loyola (6-0, 6-1) and Nathalie Finch of Howard (6-1, 7-5) to reach the No. 1 singles championship match. Quintanilla then topped Laura Gutierrez of Saint Francis U by a 5-7, 6-4 (10-6) mark in the finals to claim the singles championship. Quintanilla added three more victories in the Towson Fall Classic defeating Thomson from Morgan State (6-1, 2-6, 2-1), Vasilkova from Towson (3-6, 6-0, 10-5) and Nava from St. Joseph's (3-6, 7-5, 10-5). She is 7-0 to begin the season and looks to keep up the hot start on her home court.
