Carly Landini and Women's Tennis Host Monmouth to Conclude the Regular Season

Opening Serve: The Mount women's tennis team comes into the match with Monmouth 7-11 overall and 2-2 in NEC play. The team is coming off a 4-3 loss to Howard on Thursday. The Bison won the only two doubles matches played after they could not field a third pair. They went on to win three of the five singles matches played after not fielding a sixth. Carly Landini continued a winning ways with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4. Sam Pinchoff won at No. 2 singles 1-6, 2-0 before her opponent retired. 

About the Hawks: Monmouth is coming off a 6-1 win over Wagner in Staten Island on Thursday. The Hawks won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point, and never looked back. They went on the win five of the six singles matches to seal the victory. 

About Last Year: The Mount defeated the Hawks, 5-2 back on April 15 of last year. The Mountaineers won all three doubles matches, and four of the six singles matches to earn the win in West Long Branch. 

Same Lineup, Different Year: The Mount returns all but one starter from last year. The starting five all return from last year, minus Lauren Clark (Colt's Neck, NJ/ Red Bank Catholic).  The team features a slew of veteran experience, with five upperclassmen. The team is spear headed by seniors Kelly Conroy (Tallahassee, Fla./ John Paul II),Renee Deane (Cape Coral, Fla./ Cape Coral), and Carly Landini (Newark, Del./ Archmere Academy).

Dynamic Duo: The duo of juniors Sam Pinchoff (Sylvan Lake, Mich./ West Bloomfield) and Liz Rossi (Flanders, NY/ Bishop McGann-Mercy) helped the Mount to their 12-8 record last year. Pinchoff played No.1 singles and finished up with 9-13 record, and Rossi posted an 11-7 record in the No. 5 spot.

Up Next: The Mount women will travel to the NEC Championships on Thursday, April 18. The match time and opponent are yet to be determined.
