Emmitsburg, Md. (April 10, 2013)-- The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team was defeated by the Loyola Greyhounds on Wednesday afternoon, 5-2 in a match played in Emmitsburg. The Mount received their only two points from two singles matches. With the loss, the team moves to 7-10 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Loyola took two of the the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. Liz Rossi and Jenny Smith won at No. 3 doubles, 8-6 over Scarlett Hoy and Tiffany Ash. The duo of Kelly Conroy and Sam Pinchoff were defeated at No. 1 at the hands of Haleigh Morgus and Emily Hughes, 8-2. Renee Deane and Carly Landini suffered a similar 8-2 loss to Megan Hahn and Olivia Ott.
In singles action, senior Carly Landini and sophomore Taylor D'Agostino provided the lone Mount points on the afternoon. Landini polished off Scarlett Hoy, 6-0, 7-5 at the No. 4 spot. With the win, Landini moves to 18-7 in singles play on the year. D'Agostino was a 7-5, 6-4 winner over Tiffany Ash in the four spot. Taylor moves to 6-4 on the year.
The Mount women return to action tomorrow, against Howard. The match with the Bison begins at 3:00 PM.
