Women's Tennis Falls to Saint Francis (Pa.), 4-3

Emmitsburg, Md. (April 5, 2013)--The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team was edged by Saint Francis (Pa.), 4-3, on Friday afternoon at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts.

The Red Flash swept the doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead.  Rafaela Panizza and Shivani Patel downed the Mount's Kelly Conroy and Samantha Pinchoff, 8-4, at the No. 1 doubles spot.  Lucy Jasso and Alex Saches earned an 8-5 win over the Mount's Carly Landini and Renee Deane at No. 2 doubles while Liz Rossi and Jennifer Smith fell 9-8 (7-5) at No. 3 doubles to Dani Gryckiewicz and Camila Diaz.

In singles action, Conroy cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Panizza at No. 1 singles for the Mountaineers.  Deane posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jasso at No. 3 singles and Rossi won 6-1, 6-1 over Gryckiewicz at No. 5.

Sachs defeated Landini, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 4 singles with Diaz earning a 6-3, 6-3 win over Smith at the No. 6.  The deciding match was No. 2 singles with Patel edging Pinchoff in three sets to give the Red Flash the win.
