Women’s Swimming & Diving Edges St. Francis Brooklyn on Senior Day

Emmitsburg, Md. (January 14, 2018) – The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming & diving team edged St. Francis Brooklyn by a 113-107 margin on Sunday in the Mount's Senior Day meet. The Mountaineers are now 6-0 in dual meets, improving on their best record to start a season in program history.


The Mount honored Alex Kelly, Juliette Lacoste, Hunter Montevideo, Bridget Vaughan and JeMoon Won with a ceremony prior to the meet as part of Senior Day, recognizing their contributions to the program and the university throughout their time at the Mount.

Maddie McGraw highlighted the night by breaking the program record in the 100m back, clocking in at 1:06.75 in the event. The time broke McGraw's own record of 1:06.77, which she set back in 2015.

McGraw also won two other events on the day for a total of three individual victories at the meet. The junior notched first-place showings in the 50 free (28.60) and 100 back (1:06.75) in addition to her record-breaking performance in the 100 back.

Maggie deTar was the other Mountaineer with multiple wins on the afternoon. The sophomore took first place in both the 100 (1:02.06) and 200 (2:14.01) frees to help lead the team to victory.

In the 1-meter diving portion of the meet, Peyton Fuller posted the Mount's top score with a mark of 189.80 to earn a first-place showing, while Laci Vickey finished second with a score of 158.06.

The Mount closed out night with a victory in the 200 free relay, as Juliette Lacoste, Mary Lombardi, Valeria Villagran and Bridget Vaughan posted a time of 1:56.69 to take first place.

The Mount's next meet is on January 27 at La Salle at 1 p.m.
