Women’s Swimming & Diving Edges Howard for Fifth Straight Win

Washington, D.C. (November 3, 2017) – The Mount St. Mary's University women's swimming & diving team edged Howard by a 117-106 margin on Friday night to improve to 5-0 on the year, marking the best start to a season in program history.


The Mount won six events on the night, with Mary Lombardi and Maggie deTar each claiming two individual victories apiece to lead the way.

In the 1000 free, the Mount finished 1-2 led by Lombardi's first-place time of 11:07.60 and Bridget Vaughan's second-place showing in 11:23.11. Lombardi also claimed victory in the 500 free with a time of 5:17.08, and JeMoon Won took second place in 5:40.38.

The Mount also claimed the top two spots in the 100 breast, with Lauren Gullickson finishing first in 1:09.54 and Alyssa Felos placing second with a time of 1:10.41.

deTar registered first-place showings in both the 100 (55.66) and 200 (2:00.20) freestyle events, and Juliet W                hitman won the 100 fly in 1:01.16 for the Mount's other victory of the night.

Peyton Fuller posted the Mount's highest score in the 1-meter dive with a 185.85 for a second-place showing. Laci Vickery followed Fuller with a score of 161.85, and Laura Kingham registered a score of 152.50.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational spanning November 17-19 in Lancaster, Pa.
