MOUNT UPDATE: Led by juniors Jasmine McCree and Maggie Barron, the Mount picked up its first win of the season, 1-0, at American on Sunday. McCree provided all the offense the Mount would need when she scored off an American turnover in the seventh minute. American's goalkeeper attempted a clear, but the ball went right to McCree, who was able to loft the ball over the keeper's head for the lone goal of the game. The Eagles had a chance to tie the score when a penalty kick was awarded to Reagnan Gould. Barron came up with the big save, diving to her left to deny the potential game-tying shot. Barron finished the game with a season-high 12 saves.
ABOUT THE RED FLASH: Saint Francis U enters Friday's game with a 1-5-1 overall record this season. The Red Flash have dropped five games in a row after starting the season with a 2-2 tie at UMBC and a 3-2 overtime win at Air Force. Saint Francis fell at VCU, 5-1, on Sunday in their last game. Mariana Jaleca and Aubrey Suydam lead the team with two goals each while Julian Hernan has a 3.40 GAA and a .580 save percentage while appearing in all seven games in goal.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Saint Francis U holds a 20-9-1 lead in the all-time series that began in 1992. The Red Flash have won the past 10 matchups in the series, and 14 of the past 15 meetings between the two teams. The Mount's last victory over the Red Flash was a 1-0 win at Waldron Family Stadium on October 16, 2009.
LAST MEETING: Saint Francis U defeated the Mount, 4-0, in the Northeast Conference Tournament semifinals on November 2 last year. The Mount, making its first NEC Tournament appearance since 1997, was outshot 18-to-5 in the game. The Red Flash opened the scoring in the 15th minute on a Emilee Barnett header off a cross from Erica Carpenter. ABOUT THE COLONIALS: Robert Morris enters Thursday's game at Akron with a 2-4-1 record on the season. The Colonials own wins over Canisius (3-1) and Ohio University (1-0) this season and are coming off a 2-1 loss to Yale on Sunday. Sheridan Reid leads the team with three goals while Kayla Veloso-Lima has two goals and two assists on the year. Sydney Bruckner has a 1.36 goals against average and 36 saves in seven games in the goal.
ALL-TIME SERIES: The Mount holds a narrow 13-12-3 lead in the all-time series with Robert Morris that began in 1992. The Mount's 2-0 win at home against the Colonials snapped a four-game losing streak in the series. Robert Morris is 9-2-1 against the Mount over the past 12 matchups and is 5-0-2 against the Mount over the past seven meetings in Moon Township, Pa. The Mount's last win at Robert Morris was a 4-3 victory on October 10, 2003.
LAST MEETING: The Mount topped Robert Morris, 2-0, at Waldron Family Stadium last year behind goals from Maddie Tchou and Jaylyn Chandler and a shutout effort in net by Maggie Barron. The Mount held a 26-to-6 shot advantage and a 6-2 edge in corners in the game. Barron made four saves in the win while RMU goalkeeper Julia Schmid had 17 saves in the loss. Tchou struck for the first goal of the game when she tapped in a rebound of her own shot just over a minute into the second half. McCREE, BARON WIN NEC WEEKLY AWARDS: Juniors Jasmine McCree and Maggie Barron collected Northeast Conference Weekly awards, announced on Tuesday by the conference office. Barron's 12-save effort in the Mount's 1-0 win over American earned her NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors while McCree's goal in the seventh minute gave her NEC Player of the Week honors.
