Mount Update:  Mount St. Mary's lost to No. 13 Virginia Tech, 4-0, last Friday to fall to 1-2 on the season.  Freshman goalkeeper Vicky Cocozza made eight first half saves in the loss.  The Mount has dropped two in a row after a season-opening 4-1 win against Towson.  Kelly Baker leads the Mount with two goals while Ragan Cote has a goal and an assist.  Cocozza (3.33 GAA, 15 SV, .750 SV Pct.) and Rachel Bourne (0.67 GAA, 3 SV, .750 SV Pct.) have split each of the first three games in goal. 

About the Peacocks:  Saint Peter's has lost four in a row to fall to 1-5-0 on the season.  The Peacocks have already played three teams from the Northeast Conference, defeating Fairleigh Dickinson (2-0) while losing to Wagner (5-2) and Monmouth (4-3).  Emily Fenice and Jamie Lisanti each have two goals to pace the Peacocks offense while Caitlin Hoffer has a 3.00 goals against average and 43 saves in five games in goal.

The All-Time Series with Saint Peter's:  The Mount and Saint Peter's have split eight all-time meetings in the series that started in 1993.  The Peacocks have won the past two matchups, both 1-0 victories at the Mount's Waldron Family Stadium.  Last year, Saint Peter's earned a 1-0 overtime win at the Mount on September 18.  The Mount is 3-1 all-time on the road against Saint Peter's..

Last Year's Matchup:  Saint Peter's scored with 27 seconds left in the first overtime to post a 1-0 win at the Mount last year. Emily Fenice finished a shot to the lower left-hand part of the goal to send the Peacocks to the win.  The Mount outshot Saint Peter's, 22-to-8, in the game, but Caitlin Hoffer made eight saves for the shutout victory. Alicia Miller made three saves in the loss.

About the Bison:  Howard is now 0-5-2 on the year after a 3-1 loss to George Washington on Tuesday.  The Bison play at Wagner on Friday night before hosting the Mount on Sunday.  Jordan Brown scored Wagner's goal in the loss to George Mason while Kyra Dickinson made 12 saves.  The Bison have played one NEC opponent this year, battling Robert Morris to a scoreless draw.

The All-Time Series with Howard:  Mount St. Mary's owns a 5-3-2 lead in the all-time series with Howard that began in 1996.  Last year the Mount fell 1-0 at home to the Bison in the first matchup between the teams since 2005.

Last Year's Matchup:  Retha Koefoed scored on a header in the 36th minute to lift Howard to a 1-0 win over the Mount last year.  Nia Walcott started the play with a cross to the middle.  Kyra Dickinson made four second-half saves, including a pair that she tipped over the cross bar, to preserve the win.  Alicia Miller made three saves for the Mount, which held a 15-to-8 edge in shots in the game.

The Mount vs. Ranked Opponents:  The Mount is now 0-3 all-time against a ranked opponent after the 4-0 loss to No. 13 Virginia Tech on August 31.  In the two other matchups with ranked teams, the Mount fell to No. 15 Villanova (6-0 in 2002) and No. 20 Maryland (2-0 in 2001.  In 2002, the Mountaineers lost to No. 15 Villanova, 6-0. 

About the Offense:  The Mount scored four goals in the season opener against Towson.  The four goals were the most ever scored by a Mount team in 16 all-time meetings with the Tigers.  It is the second time since September 2008 that the Mount has scored four goals in a game.  The Mount downed Quinnipiac, 4-1, at home on October 23 last year.

Baker Moving Up Career Lists:  Senior Kelly Baker scored twice in the Mount's 4-1 win over Towson to open the season.  It was the second career two-goal game for Baker, who scored a pair against Fairleigh Dickinson in 2009.  She now has 10 career goals, tied for 10th on the Mount's all-time list.  Baker is also tied for 12th all-time at the Mount with 24 career points (10g, 4a).

Season Openers:  The Mount won a season-opener for the second consecutive season with a 4-1 victory over Towson.  The Mount is now 3-18 all-time in season-opening games.

Youth Will Be Served:  The 2012 Mount women's soccer roster features 11 new players, including 10 freshmen.  Overall, 17 of the Mount's 24 players are freshmen or sophomores.

Preseason Poll:  The Mount was picked to finish 11th in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches poll.

Celebrating 20 Years of Mount Soccer:  The Mount will be celebrating 20 years of women's soccer history this season.  The Mount will have an alumni game on Sunday, September 30, at 10 am and will honor a 20th Anniversary Team at halftime of the 1:00 p.m. game against Navy that day.
