Mount Update:  The Mount will be opening its 21st season of women's soccer when Towson visits Waldron Family Stadium on Friday night.  Last year, the Mount finished 6-10-2 overall and 4-6-0 in the Northeast Conference.  The Mountaineers were in playoff contention heading into the final weekend of NEC play.  Junior Jackie Corley and sophomore Alicia Mirando are the Mount's top returning scorers.  Corley had two goals and two assists in 18 games last year while Mirando had three goals in 16 games played.  Junior Ragan Cote led the Mount with three assists in 2011.

About the Tigers:  Towson enters Friday night's contest 0-2-0 on the year after falling to DePaul and Valparaiso last week.  In the season opener, DePaul scored 11 seconds into the game en route to the 2-1 win.  Cheyenne Skidmore scored in the 66th minute on a feed from Kat Sipes for Towson's goal.  Goalkeeper Erin Quinn made 11 saves in the two games, posting a 1.50 goals against average and a .786 save percentage.  She made five saves in the 1-0 loss to Valparaiso.

The All-Time Series with Towson:  Towson holds a 14-2-0 lead in the all-time series that began in 1992.  Last year, the Tigers posted a 5-0 win over the Mount.  In 2010, the Mount downed Towson, 1-0, at home, to snap a 10-game losing streak in the series.  The Mount is 1-6-0 all-time at home against Towson.

Last Meeting Between the Schools:  Last year, Towson defeated the Mount, 5-0, on September 11 at home.  Alicia Miller made five saves for the Mountaineers in the loss.  Cheyenne Skidmore and Kaitlin Brooks each scored first-half goals to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.  Skidmore added a second-half goal for Towson as well in the game.  Towson outshot the Mount, 15-10, while holding a 3-0 edge in corner kicks.

About the Broncs:  Rider opened the season with a 1-0 overtime win against NJIT.  Freshman Tara Ballay scored in the 108th minute to lift the Broncs to the season-opening victory.  Ballay scored on a header on a cross from Angela Monaco.  Jenn Nichols made three saves for the shutout victory as Rider outshot NJIT 22-10 in the game.  The Broncs play Howard on Friday before heading to the Mount on Sunday.

The All-Time Series with Rider:  The Mount is 1-0-1 all-time against Rider, including a 1-0 overtime win last year in Lawrenceville, N.J.  Sadie Winship provided the game-winning goal on a free kick in overtime.  Both meetings in the series have been overtime games and this will be Rider's first game at the Mount since 1997.

Last Meeting Between the Schools:
  Sadie Winship scored on a free kick with 49 seconds left in the first overtime to lift the Mount to a 1-0 win at Rider last year.  Winship took her free kick from just outside the top of the penalty box and slipped her shot just under the cross bar to send the Mount to victory.  Alicia Miller made 12 saves in the game for her eighth career shutout.  Rider held a 26-17 ege in shots in the contest.

Season Openers:  The Mount won a season-opener for the second time in program history last year with a 1-0 overtime win at Rider.  The Mountaineers are now 2-18 all-time in season openers with the other win coming in a 10-0 victory over Delaware State in 2005.  The Mount is 1-6 all-time at home in season openers.  This will be the fifth time the Mount has faced Towson in the season-opening game.  Towson defeated the Mount in the season opener in 1997 (2-0), 2000 (2-1), 2001 (5-1) and 2006 (2-1).

Youth Will Be Served:  The 2012 Mount women's soccer roster features 11 new players, including 10 freshmen.  Overall, 17 of the Mount's 24 players are freshmen or sophomores.

In Goal:  The Mount will be replacing All-NEC goalkeeper Alicia Miller this season.  A pair of freshmen, Rachel Bourne and Vicky Cocozza, will be replacing Miller, who is now on staff as an assistant coach on this year's team.   Miller played every minute in goal for the Mount last season, recording a 1.39 goals against average and a .810 save percentage to earn Second Team All-NEC honors. 

Preseason Poll:  The Mount was picked to finish 11th in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches poll.

Celebrating 20 Years of Mount Soccer:  The Mount will be celebrating 20 years of women's soccer history this season.  The Mount will have an alumni game on Sunday, September 30, at 10 am and will honor a 20th Anniversary Team at halftime of the 1:00 p.m. game against Navy that day.
