SOPHOMORES STEPPING UP
Sophomores Jordan Butler (12g, 3a) and Zoe Hurlburt (13g, 1a) currently rank top-two on the squad in both points and goals this season. In 2018, the duo combined for just six goals and two assists all season, with Hurlburt tallying four scores and two helpers, and Butler adding a pair of goals. Both players have taken on a much larger role in the offense through the opening six games of 2019, and their production has helped lead the Mountaineers to a strong 4-2 start. Hurlburt has three straight games with three or more goals, including a career-best four scores last time out in a win at Radford. Butler had the team's biggest game of the season thus far, tallying a career-high eight points (6g, 2a) in a victory over La Salle.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Colonials have earned victories over Radford, 14-9, and NEC member Robert Morris, 12-6, but sit at just 2-4 overall on the season. Tori Hampton (10g, 3a), Ioanna Mantzouratos (12g) and Katie Quinn (7g, 5a) lead the GW attack. Jenna Oler has started all six games in goal, posting a .472 save percentage and 11.17 goals against average.
INSIDE THE SERIES
George Washington owns a 13-3 advantage in the all-time series with Mount St. Mary's, including a 5-1 record in Emmitsburg. The Mount's last victory in the series was a 15-14 triumph in double overtime back in 2010. The Colonials have won seven straight meetings since then, including a 10-7 win last season. In that contest, GW held the Mount to just two goals in the first half of play and the Mountaineers weren't able to overcome the second-half deficit. Emily Davis (2g) and Beanie Colson (1g, 1a) paced the Mount with two points apiece in the tilt.
The Mount returns to action next Wednesday, March 20 for a matchup at home against Longwood at 4 p.m.
