ABOUT THE MOUNT
The Mountaineers moved to a perfect 2-0 to open the season following a 9-8 win at UMBC on Thursday. UMBC scored a pair of late goals to tie things up with Mount St. Mary's at 8-8, but Carly Miller responded with her second goal of the game with just 39 seconds remaining to lift the Mountaineers to a 9-8 victory. The win was just the second all-time for the Mount against UMBC. The team's only other victory in the series came back in 2004. Eight different Mountaineers tallied a point in the contest, led by a pair of goals apiece from Miller and Jordan Butler, and two assists by Emily Davis. Five other players scored a goal apiece, including Jordan Groover, who also added a game-high four draw controls and three ground balls.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jordan Groover was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday. Groover put up a big performance in her collegiate debut, helping lead the Mountaineers to a 20-2 win over Presbyterian in the season opener. Groover tallied a hat trick and also added a game-high seven draw controls to go along with three ground balls in the victory.
Army is off to a 4-0 start to the season with wins over Iona (18-9), Marist (18-9), Hartford (22-5) and Siena (12-8). The Black Knights are led by the trio of Jackie Brattan (14g), Samantha Stewart (13g, 1a) and Caroline Raymond (5g, 9a), who each have 14 points in four games. Goalie Maddie Burns has posted a .469 save percentage and 8.24 goals against average in four starts.
INSIDE THE SERIES
In the first and only meeting between the Mount and Army which came just last season, the Mountaineers came away with a 14-10 victory in Emmitsburg. Taylor Carhart and Carly Miller combined for 10 points to power the Mount to the win. Carhart netted five goals to go along with one assist, and Miller notched two goals and a pair of assists. Jillian Petito collected the win in goal with a seven-save performance.
The Mount returns to Emmitsburg to take on La Salle on March 1 at 7 p.m.
