Mount St. Mary’s Women’s Lacrosse Announces 2019 Schedule

Emmitsburg, Md. (January 7, 2019) – The Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse team announced its schedule for the upcoming 2019 season on Wednesday. The Mount's 17-game slate includes 10 home games at Waldron Family Stadium.

"I am very excited to announce our 2019 schedule," said Head Coach Lauren Schwarzmann. "We've added some new opponents, will be traveling to places we've never been before, and tried to create an out-of-conference schedule that would fully prepare us for our Northeast Conference competition in April. We are looking forward to the months ahead of us."

The Mountaineers open the season on February 9 at home against Presbyterian. Last year, the Mount cruised to a 16-0 win over Presbyterian to collect its third shutout in program history and its largest margin of victory since 2013.

Following the season opener, Mount St. Mary's hits the road for contests against UMBC (Feb. 20) and Army (Feb. 23), before returning to Emmitsburg to host La Salle (Mar. 1) and California (Mar. 3).

The final five games of the non-conference schedule include three at home, coming against George Washington (Mar. 13), Longwood (Mar. 20), and UC Davis (Mar. 30), as the Mountaineers gear up for NEC play and look to make another run to the conference tournament.

The Mount opens the league slate on April 5 with a tilt at Saint Francis U. Last season, the Mountaineers posted a 10-3 win in the matchup to move to a perfect 16-0 all-time against the Red Flash.

After the contest with SFU, the Mountaineers are back in Emmitsburg for a two-game home stand with games versus Robert Morris (Apr. 7) and Wagner (Apr. 13), a pair of teams that both reached the NEC Playoffs last season, including the eventual league champion in Wagner.

Mount St. Mary's follows with road a road tilt at Central Connecticut (Apr. 18), who the Mountaineers are 16-3 against all-time, before traveling to Bryant (Apr. 20) for a rematch of last season's NEC Semifinal contest.

The Mount closes out the regular season with home games against Sacred Heart (Apr. 26) and LIU Brooklyn (Apr. 28).

The top-four teams in the regular season conference standings will earn a berth to the NEC Playoffs, which will take place on May 2 and 4 at the home of the highest seed.

The Mountaineers return six of their top-seven point scorers from a season ago, including All-NEC Second Team honorees Carly Miller and Beanie Colson, along with All-Rookie Team member Alayna Pagnotta. Back for her senior season is the reigning NEC Defensive Player of the Year and All-ECAC Second Team Selection, Jillian Petito, who led the nation in save percentage last year. The Mount went 10-7 overall and 5-2 in conference play in 2018 en route to an NEC Semifinal appearance.
