Mount Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Binghamton

Vestal, N.Y. (April 1, 2017) – Mount St. Mary's University dropped a 13-6 decision at Binghamton on Saturday in non-conference women's lacrosse action.

Jocelyn Penteck and Olivia Batista paced Binghamton in the tilt, tallying four goals each. Emma Jehle made six saves in goal to pick up the win.

Taylor Carhart and Carly Miller led the way for the Mount with a pair of scores apiece, and Marley Heller and Kate Kinsella each added a goal and an assist. Jillian Petito made five saves between the pipes, but took the loss.

Binghamton opened a 3-1 lead just over seven minutes into the contest, with all three scores coming from Batista. The Mount answered with two of the next three as Kinsella and Heller found the back of the net to close the gap to 4-3 with 7:50 remaining in the half.

After trading goals over the ensuing seven minutes of play, Stefanie Frolo scored with just one second showing on the clock to send the Bearcats into halftime with a 6-4 advantage.

Three straight goals from Binghamton to open the second half, including a pair from DeNapoli, pushed the Bearcat lead to 9-4 at the 21:55 mark.

Miller broke up the run with her 13th goal of the season with 17:38 left in the tilt, but the Mount was held scoreless for the next 13 minutes while Binghamton built a 13-5 advantage over the stretch.

The Bearcats closed out the 13-6 victory to improve to 5-6 overall on the year while the Mount dropped to 1-7.

Mount St. Mary's returns home for its conference opener on April 7 against Robert Morris at 4 p.m.
