Littlestown, Pa. (April 15, 2013) -- The Mount women's golf team wrapped up day one of the Mount St. Mary's Invitational at Quail Valley Golf Course in seventh place with a team total of 678 with back-to-back rounds of 339. Nicole Fazio carded two rounds of 81 (+9) on Monday to tie for 15th place through 36 holes with a first day total of 162.
Kelsey Hayward fired the Mount's best single round of 77 (+5) in her first 18 holes. Hayward concluded the day in a five-way tie for 24th overall with 166 strokes.
The Mount's top finisher in all three rounds at the team's previous event, Amanda Reach improved two strokes from round one to round two with scores of 85 (+13) and 83 (+11), respectively. Her total of 168 is good for 31st overall.
Abbey Fry saw the most drastic improvement on Monday with a 10-stroke difference in her two rounds. Fry put together a 96 (+24) then recovered with an 86 (+14) to finish the day in 36th place at 182.
Rounding out the Mount's top five was Sara Fuss in 40th place with a combined 188 strokes. Her 96 (+24) was followed by a 92 (+20).
Halley Morell of Robert Morris is in first place after the first two rounds with scores of 76(+4) and 75 (+3) for a 151 score. She is one stroke ahead of Central Connecticut State's Katie Reid, who is second at 152 after firing the low round of the day at 73 (+1) in the second round.
Behind Reid's second-place score and Albrianna Farnum in third place after round two at 152, Central Connecticut State leads the team competition with a team total of 617. Robert Morris is 11 strokes back in second with 628 strokes.
Tomorrow's final round will begin at 8:20 a.m.
