COMPETITION: C & F Bank Invitational

TEEING OFF: After nearly five months since the fall finale, the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team will begin the spring season at the C & F Bank Invitational hosted by William and Mary at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va. March 17-19.
THE COMPETITION: The Mount will have their first glimpse of Northeast Conference opponents Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, Monmouth and Saint Francis U. The field will also include Boston College from the Atlantic Coast Conference, St. John's from the Big East, as well as fellow Maryland teams, Towson and Navy. A total of 28 teams will compete during the weekend.
LAST TIME OUT: At the Sacred Heart Fall Invitational, which was the final fall event, three players finished in the top 40 for the Mount including Kelsey Hayward in 26th and Amanda Reach in 37th. The Mount placed eighth in the team competition.
LAST TIME AT THE EVENT: Last spring at the C & F Bank Invitational, the Mount carded 1048 over the three-round tournament to place 19th. Then-freshman Kelsey Hayward was the Mount's top finisher, placing 39th overall. Hayward shot back-to-back rounds of 78 to open the event last season. The 78 score was one shot off her season best round of 77 at the Rutgers Fall Invitational. During the 2010-11 season, the Mount took home 17th place in a two-day tournament.
ALL TEN ROUNDS: Kelsey Hayward and Amanda Reach played in all 10 of the Mount's rounds during the fall season. So far this season, Hayward's low round has been 82, which she shot twice at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational. For Reach, the rookie's top performance came at the Rutgers Invitational when she carded an 83 in the first round.
NEC CHAMPIONSHIP: The 2013 Northeast Conference Championships are just over a month away with the dates set for April 26-28 at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
UP NEXT: The Mount will continue the spring schedule with the Navy Spring Invitational on March 23, at the Navy Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Md.
