EGG HARBOR, N.J. - The Mount St. Mary's women's golf team finished 11th at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Monday.
The two day ECAC Women's Golf Championship was plagued with rain, and as the last pairings walked up to finish the front nine holes conditions were viewed as deteriorating with water standing on greens and getting worse in the fairways. The ECAC with consult from Twisted Dune Golf Club staff decided to suspend play at 3 p.m. Fortunately all teams at the time of the decision had finished nine holes so the championship results were tallied based on 27 holes of play.
Competed for the Mount, Sarah Roe (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial)(21th place, 124), Autumn Serruta (Avon, Conn./Avon)(35th place,129), Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall H.S.)(45th place,132), Megan Corbett (Danbury, Conn./Danbury)(62nd, 138), Abbey Fry (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest)(67th place,153).
The Mount shot a 176 on the afternoon and finished the tournament with a score of 523. Sacred Heart won the event with a score of 478, two strokes ahead of Fairleigh Dickinson (480) while Boston College (486), Fairfield (486) and Dartmouth (489) rounded out the Top5 teams in the event.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the Holiday Inn Colonial Classic on Oct. 11-12.
