Somerset, N.J. (November 23, 2018) -- Mount St. Mary's bowling freshman Rebecca Dodson has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Dodson's frame average rose each day at the Hawk Classic, a three-day tournament hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore that featured six of the nation's top-10 teams. The rookie peaked during Sunday's best-of-seven baker play, averaging 21.15 pins per frame over the course of three matches. Dodson kicked off the tournament's final day by firing strikes on each of her first nine attempts. One day earlier, she paced the Mount in traditional team competition. Dodson accounted for a 193.4 game average that included a 202-pin performance in a victory over Youngstown State. Her high game (217) came as the Mount topped the 1,000-pin mark against NEC opponent Brooklyn.
Dodson and the Mountaineers are back in action on December 1-2 for their first NEC tournament.
