August 9, 2019—Mount St. Mary's women's basketball coach Maria Marchesano has announced the 2019-20 schedule, highlighted by a 13-game home slate.
The Mountaineers open the 2019-20 season at Kentucky on Tuesday, November 5, before heading to Indiana for a November 7 matchup. The Mount will host Frostburg State on Monday, November 11, for the home opener.
A pair of local rivals are next on the schedule with a road game at Towson (Nov. 16) and a home tilt against UMBC (Nov. 20). The final game in November is a trip to Radford on November 26.
The Mount welcomes Loyola to Knott Arena for a Friday night matchup on December 6 before hosting Lehigh two days later. The Mount will play its final four non-conference games away from home. Following a road game at Maryland-Eastern Shore on December 14, the Mount will be in the Old Dominion Tournament on December 19-21. The Mount will have games against host Old Dominion, Richmond and Hampton at the tournament with the matchups still to be determined.
"As a staff, we are really excited about the way this year's schedule came together," said Marchesano. "Our early games in the Midwest against Kentucky and Indiana will be great opportunities for our girls to measure themselves against two power five conference programs. After that first long road trip, getting back home and renewing some of our in state battles with Towson, UMBC, and our annual Catholic Clash against Loyola will be a fun stretch of games. But probably the most exciting piece of our schedule will be rounding out our non-conference slate in a three day classic at Old Dominion where we will compete in a tournament like atmosphere."
The Mount begins the 18-game Northeast Conference schedule with home games against Wagner (Jan. 2) and Long Island (Jan. 4). After a two-game road trip to Bryant and new NEC member Merrimack, the Mount has a three-game homestand against Central Connecticut (Jan. 18), St. Francis Brooklyn (Jan. 20) and Bryant (Jan. 25).
A four-game road trip begins February before the Mount returns to Knott Arena to hosts Saint Francis U on Feb. 15. Merrimack makes its first trip to Knott Arena as an NEC member on February 23, and the final two games of the regular season are at home against Robert Morris (Mar. 2) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Mar. 5).
