Sydney Henderson Earns Second Team All-Northeast Conference

March 7, 2013-- Mount St. Mary's guard Sydney Henderson (Richmond, Va./Atlee) has been honored as a Second Team All-Northeast Conference selection. The redshirt junior is leading her team with 13.3 points and 6 rebounds per game, guiding the Mountaineers to the NEC Tournament for the second-consecutive season.

Henderson, who was a two-time NEC Player of the Week honoree during the regular season, is one of four players to rank in the top 10 in the conference in scoring and rebounding average. Henderson currently ranks ninth in the NEC with 13.3 points per game and 10th with 6.0 rebounds per game.

Henderson has scored in double digits on 20 occasions this season, including a career-high 30 points in a 70-67 road win over Rider on Nov. 16th.

Throughout the regular season, Henderson proved to be one of the dominant players in the NEC, ranking in the top 10 in minutes played, scoring, rebounding, defensive rebounding, free throw percentage and steals. Henderson is the only Mountaineer to start all 29 games, and her 36.6 minutes per game are tied for second in the NEC so far this season.

The guard is the 11th All-NEC Second Team selection in school history and the second under Head Coach Bryan Whitten.

The No. 6 seed Mountaineers will open the NEC Tournament with a quarterfinals matchup at No. 3 seed Monmouth on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
