April 13, 2019--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams completed a busy weekend with athletes competing at the Hopkins-Loyola Invitational, the Messiah Invitational, the Bucknell Outdoor Classic and the George Mason Spring Invitational.
At the Messiah Invitational, the Mount had solid performances in the jumps and the throws. Sean Fahey won the triple jump (14.15m, 46' 6.25") with teammates Dyulan LaNoue finishing second (13.75m, 45' 1.5") and D.J. Hamilton third (13.73m, 45' 0.5"). Fahey also finished in second place in the long jump (6.85m, 22' 5.75"). LaNoue took home first in the high jump (2.02m, 6' 7.5") with teammate Jonathan Burns finishing second at 1.87m (6' 1.5").
In the throws, the Mount had four of the top five finishers in the shot put with Matthew Selba winning (15.40m, 50' 6.25"), Alex Devine third (15.11m, 49' 7"), Zachary Delker fourth (14.52m, 47' 7.75"), and Sam Shinn fifth (14.39m, 47' 2.5"). Devin took home first in the discus (47.97m, 157' 4") with Selba finishing second (44.23m, 145' 1"). Selba was third in the hammer throw (46.15m, 151' 5") with Shinn placing fifth (43.88m, 143' 4").
For the women's team, Erin Jaskot won both the 800m (2:19.39) and the 1,500m (4:47.63) to lead the way. Jameela Buchanan won the 200m and was third in the 100m while Chelsea Wright was fourth in the high jump. Elizabeth Shodiya captured first in the long jump as well.
Jesslyn Manni led the way in the throws by finishing first in the shot put and the hammer throw and second in the discus. Emily Eckard added a third-place mark in the discus as well.
At the George Mason Spring Invitational, Dominique Jeffery was sixth in the 200m (25.04), Chardane Logan fifth in the 400m (57.80), Najae Nickerson fourth in the 100m hurdles (14.32) and Isabel Russel sixth in the 400m hurdles (1:06.07). The 4x100m relay team of Nickerson, Kayla Barnes, Jeffery and Mariah McLane was second with a time of 47.40 seconds. Bryanna Youtzy added a first-place finish in the javelin for the Mountaineers.
For the men, Justin Kimble was fifth in the 100m dash (10.66), Justin Seivright sixth in the 400m hurdles (55.97) while the 4x100m relay team was third with a time of 41.37 seconds. The 4x400m relay team took home first with a time of 3:22.09. Brian Sagendorf had a solid performance in the javelin with a toss of 64.40m (211' 3").
At the Hopkins-Loyola Invitational, John Wang finished fifth in the 1,500 m run to lead the Mountaineer contingent.
