Annapolis, Md. (January 12, 2019)--Justin Kimble took home first place in the 60m dash to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams on Saturday at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational hosted by the United States Naval Academy.
Kimble had a time of 6.91 seconds to take home first place in the 60m dash, 0.01 seconds ahead of Penn's Marvin Morgan and 0.02 seconds ahead of Villanova's Troy Gallen and Princeton's Simang'Aliso Ndhlovu. Teammate Lewis Kungu finished in fifth place with a mark of 6.95 seconds. Both Kimble's and Kungu's marks meet the IC4A qualifying standard.
Kungu added a fourth-place finish in the 400m dash for the Mountaineers with a time of 49.67 seconds. Dylan LaNoue was sixth in the high jump (1.95m) while Colin Waitzman and Carter Nave each cleared 4.40m in the pole vault to finish in seventh and eighth place, respectively. D.J. Hamilton was third in the triple jump (13.52m) while Zachary Delker finished eighth in the weight throw (14.08m).
On the women's side, Kayla Barnes finished in sixth place in the 60m dash (7.89) and seventh in the 200m dash (25.33) for the Mountaineers. Dominique Jeffery was eighth in the 400m (59.25) while Chardane Logan was eighth in the 500m (1:18.55). Erin Jaskot had a fourth-place finish in the 3,000m run with a time of 10:03.98 while Najae Nickerson was sixth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.99 seconds. Rachel Finn continued her strong indoor season with a second-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.85m. Erin Sample was sixth in the shot put for the Mountaineers with a mark of 12.64m.
The Mountaineers are back in action on Saturday, January 19, at the Bucknell Gulden Invitational.
