Mount St. Mary's Indoor Track Headed to ECAC/IC4A Championships

The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams are set to compete at the 2018 ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track and Field Championships. The meet will be held at Boston University on March 2-4.  The Mount had 17 athletes qualify for this year's championships.

MOUNT UPDATE:  The Mount St. Mary's men's track and field team finished in third place while the women's team finished fourth at the 2018 Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex on Feb. 16-17.  It is the best finish by the Mount's men's team at the NEC Indoor Championships since winning the title in 1998.  Brenden Chavis, D.J. Workcuff, Justin Kimble, Kayla Barnes, and the women's 4x400m relay team all took home gold medals at the meet.  Barnes was named the Women's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer while Kimble was named the Men's NEC Most Outstanding Track Performer (Sprints) .  Barnes becomes just the second Mountaineer to win NEC Rookie of the Year honors on the women's side, joining Ashley DeCruise in 2008.  For a full recap, click HERE.

MOUNT ATHLETES COMPETING:  The Mount will have 17 athletes competing at this year's ECAC/IC4A Championships.  The list includes Justin Kimble (60, 200m), Brenden Chavis (Weight Throw), Isaac Kole (800m), Benjamin Finnigan (Mile), Christopher Gabor (Heptathlon), D.J. Workcuff (Heptathlon), the men's 4x400m relay (Brady Altland, Brandon Briscoe, Sean Fahey, Dhane Schmelyun), Kayla Barnes (60m, 200m), Erin Sample (Shot Put), Rachel Finn (Pole Vault) and the women's 4x400m relay (Mariah McLane, Chardane Logan, Chalys Caruth, Clarke Hooper).

UP NEXT:  The Mount will head outdoors for the outdoor season opener at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina on March 15-17.
