MOUNT UPDATE:  The Mount opens the 2018 season at the Elon Tournament this weekend.  The Mount went 20-31 last year, including 5-11 in the Northeast Conference.  The 20 wins were the most by a Mount team since 2010.  First Team All-NEC selection Lindsay Heinze and senior Morgan Alisauckas lead the Mount returnees.  Heinze hit .342 with 17 doubles, six home runs and 37 RBI last season while Alisauckas hit .344 with four home runs and 32 RBI.  Returning pitches include Katie Olson, Marian Ruf and Jordan Weaver.

ABOUT NORTH TEXAS:  North Texas enters the Elon Tournament with a 1-2 record after falling to UL Monroe (12-10) and Central Arkansas (5-4) while beating Tennessee-Martin (5-2) at the season-opening Mardi Gras Classic in Monroe, La.  Lacy Gregory led the team with 12 RBI in the three games, headlined by a 4-for-4 performance with two home runs, a double and a school-record eight RBI in the loss to UL Monroe.

ABOUT RHODE ISLAND:  Rhode Island will be making their season debut at the Elon Tournament.  The Rams were picked to finish in eighth place in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll.  Last year, Rhode Island went 11-33 overall and 8-15 in the A10.

ABOUT BOWLING GREEN:  Bowling Green enters the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record after wins over Niagara (4-0; 4-0), Cleveland State (10-3), Canisius (8-0) and Robert Morris (8-1) at the CSU Dome Tournament.  Aspen Searle went 11-for-17 (.647) at the plate with 10 runs scored while Kali Holcomb hit .421 with two home runs and 11 RBI in the two games.  Meredith Miller was dominant in the circle with a 3-0 record and 32 strikeouts in 20.0 innings of work.

ABOUT ELON:  Elon downed North Carolina, 2-1, on Wednesday to move to 3-2 on the season.  After dropping a twinbill at Charlotte to open the year, Elon downed North Carolina Central in a pair of games ahead of the win over North Carolina.  Kristin Hoover leads the team with a .412 average while Kiandra Mitchum is 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA in three starts.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES:  The Mount is 2-0 all-time against Rhode Island, posting a 5-0 win in 2010 and an 8-0 victory in 2012.  This will be the first-ever meetings with North Texas, Bowling Green and Elon.

PRESEASON PICKS:  Mount St. Mary's was picked to finish in eighth place in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.  Defending champion Saint Francis U was the unanimous pick to win the league.
