MEN'S TEAMS COMPETING
Goucher, Johns Hopkins, Loyola, Mount St. Mary's
The Mount St. Mary's duo of Jackson Wood and Parth Sharma took home the title at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational this past weekend. The tournament format had a pair of players play a best-of-three that included a doubles match and two singles matches. Wood and Sharma advanced to the finals with a 3-0 victory over Mercyhurst's pairing of Ruairidh Fraser and Kiran Richards. In the other semifinal, the Mount's Jean Armstrong and Evan Hine were edged by Mercyhurst's other doubles pairing Cormac McCooey and Unai Amiletta Gonzalez by a 2-1 score. An injury from Mercyhurst's Cormac McCooey kept the Lakers' duo from competing in the finals, giving the title to Wood and Sharma.
At last year's Loyola Invitational, the Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team took home first, third, and ninth place. Jackson Wood and Parth Sharma won their second straight doubles tournament to open up the 2018 season. Jean Armstrong and Alonzo Garcia picked up third place while Evan Hine and Gabriel Santos recorded ninth place.
The Mountaineers will return to action on October 11 at the Navy Invitational.
