Men's Tennis Dominates In State Rival Loyola, 6-1  on Wednesday

Emmitsburg, Md. (April, 10, 2013)-- The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team defeated rival Loyola 6-1 in Emmitsburg on Wednesday. The men move to 13-6 on the season, including a 3-1 mark in Northeast Conference play.

The Mount won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. They took the 1-0 lead and never looked back. Mike Salomon and Adam Salam downed the duo of Harrison Kunel and Connor Lisco, 8-4 at the No. 2 spot. Mike Zabetakis and Austin Blake won by the same score 8-4 over Loyola's Jordan Kuchta and Greg Olesnycky in the three spot.

In singles action, the men took five of the six matches to cruise to victory. The NEC Player of the Week, Matthew Blake won his match, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 over Bobby Gorczakowski at the one spot. The Mount won spots two through four in straight sets. Adam Salam downed Kunkel; 6-2, 6-4 at the two spot, while his doubles partner Mike Salomon won at the three spot. He defeated Connor Pietrak 6-1, 6-4. Matthew's younger brother Austin won at the four spot over Kuchta; 6-3, 6-4. Taylor Place rounded out the wins with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Olesnycky at the six position.

The men close out the regular season on Sunday, April 14 with a match against Monmouth. The match with the Hawks begins at 1:00 PM in Emmitsburg.
