Navy Defeats Men's Tennis 6-1

Annapolis, Md. (March 10, 2013)-- The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team lost to Navy, 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. Senior Taylor Place picked up the lone Mount point, winning at the No. 6 singles spot.

In doubles action, Navy swept all three matches to earn the doubles point, and an early 1-0 lead. Peter McDonald and Calvin Mark defeated Place and Matthew Blake 8-4 at the No. 1 spot. Nicholas Gutsche and Blake Daniel teamed up to down Mike Salomon and Adam Salam in the No. 2 spot, 8-4. Mike Zabetakis and Austin Blake suffered a 9-7  loss to Alex Gaines and Tyler Burnett in the No. 3 slot.

Place picked up the lone Mount point with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Tyler Burnett at the No. 6 position. Navy would go on to win all the other singles matches in straight sets.

The Mount men return to action tomorrow, Monday March 11 against Wagner. First serve is at 3:00 PM.
