Men's Tennis Defeats the University of the District of Columbia, 6-1

Emmitsburg, Md. (March 25, 2010)--Mount St. Mary's defeated the University of the District of Columbia, 6-1, on Thursday afternoon in men's tennis action at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts.

The Mount won five of the six singles matches to pull away for the win. Mike Salomon was a 6-4, 6-2 winnver over Mahamut Demirkol at the No. 2 singles position while Thad Mostowtt posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Andrew Marinucci won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles while Taylor Place won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5.

In doubles play, Marinucci and Salomon won 8-2 over Adrian Wyllie and Daniel Gourdine at the No. 2 spot. The Mount won No. 3 doubles by default to clinch the point.

The Mount returns to action on Saturday with a home match against George Mason.
