Men's Tennis Picked Fifth in Northeast Conference Preseason Poll

January 28, 2010--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team has been picked to finish fifth in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Sacred Heart, the defending champion, is the preseason favorite according to the league's head coaches.

Quinnipiac was picked second, followed by Fairleigh Dickinson, Monmouth and the Mount. Robert Morris was selected for sixth with Saint Francis (Pa.), St. Francis (N.Y.) and Wagner rounding out the poll.

The Mount posted a 4-0 record this past fall, including a 2-0 mark against NEC competition. Junior Patrick Plastow (Dushore, Pa./Pennsylvania Home School) played at No. 1 singles for the Mount in the fall while freshman Mike Salomon (Haymarket, Va./Seton School) was at the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Junior Andrew Marinucci (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led the Mount with a 7-3 record in singles action during the fall season.

The Mountaineers open the spring season when they travel to Navy for a 5:00 p.m. match on Saturday, February 13.
