Taylor Wins Two Matches at Georgetown Classic

Sophomore Derek Taylor won a pair of matches in the consolation round of the Georgetown Classic this past weekend in Washington, D.C. Four Mount players participated in the event that was held at the McDonough Tennis Complex at Georgetown.

After falling to tournament top seed Jeff Schnell, 6-1, 6-1, Taylor downed Will Kelliher (Univ. of District of Columbia), 6-2, 6-1, in his first consolation match. He then downed Mary Washington's Evan Goff, 7-5, 6-1, in his final match of the tournament.

Also playing in the singles draw were Jeff Lamberton and Favio Osorio. Lamberton lost to Georgetown's Adam Gross, 6-2, 6-3, in the first round and 6-0, 6-1, to Ray Josephs of Marist in the consolations. Osorio fell to Randy Loden (Mary Washington), 7-5, 6-0, in the first round and 6-0, 6-4 to Robert Baggio (Georgetown) in the consolations.

In doubles action, the Mount had two teams in action. Lamberton and Taylor lost to Josephs and Greg Marks (Marist), 8-6, while Thad Mostowtt and Osorio dropped an 8-3 decision to Anthony Tan and Will Lowell (Georgetown).
