Lynchburg, Va. (February 21, 2019) – Will Twizell highlighted day two of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships on Thursday with a sixth-place finish and a new school record in the 200 IM. The Mount's relay squad also set a new school record in the 200 free relay. The Mountaineers are in seventh place in the team standings with two days of competition remaining.
Twizell raced to a time of 1:50.78 in the 200 IM to take sixth place, which is the best placing at the championships by a Mountaineer thus far. Twizell's performance broke his own school record of 1:50.93, which he set at last year's CCSA Championships. John Wilson also scored in the event for the Mount, taking 17th place in a time of 1:56.06.
In the 200 free relay, the Mount's top relay squad of Jonathan Mata, Brock Cudahy, Ryan Griffiths, and Peter Jones combined for a time of 1:25.15 to finish seventh and set a new school record. The previous record of 1:26.37 was set at the Loyola H2ounds Invitational earlier this season.
