The Mount men's team registered a third-place finish at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational, and Will Twizell and Ryan Griffiths each set new program records at the meet. Twizell posted a time of 2:01.63 in the 200 breast to take second place in the event and break his own program record. The junior from Australia also added a pair of top-two finishes on the final day of the invite, winning the 200 IM (1:51.87) and placing second in the 100 breast (55.85). Griffiths set a new program record in the 200 back, clocking in at 1:55.82 and taking fourth place in the event.
On the women's side, the Mountaineers claimed fourth place at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. Maddie McGraw and Mary Lombardi posted a victory and a second-place finish apiece to lead the way. McGraw claimed the top spot in the 100 back (57.18) and placed second in the 200 back (2:06.86), while Lombardi took home first place in the 1650 free (17:37.25) and swam to a second-place showing in the 500 free (5:10.26).
LAST SEASON AT H2OUNDS INVITATIONAL
The women's squad earned a fourth-place finish at last season's H2ounds Invitational. McGraw paced the Mountaineers with three finishes in the top-10. McGraw placed second in the 100 back (58.37), fifth in the 200 back (2:09.00), and ninth in the 200 IM (2:13.78). Alyssa Felos, Lauren Gullickson, and Lombardi helped lead the squad with a pair of top-10 finishes apiece. Felos claimed fourth place in the 100 (1:08.60) and 200 (2:28.67) breast events, Gullickson registered a sixth-place showing in the 200 breast (2:31.40) and finished ninth in the 100 breast (1:09.68), and Lombardi placed eighth in the 200 back (2:10.29) and ninth in the 100 back (1:01.33).
The Mount men finished in fifth place at the H2ounds Invitational last season. Twizell highlighted the meet with a trio of top-four individual finishes, placing second in the 200 IM (1:52.89), third in the 100 breast (55.77), and fourth in the 200 fly (1:53.70). The Mountaineers also had three other swimmers place among the top-10 in the 100 breast in Aidan McCormick (58.13), John Wilson (59.15), and Brock Cudahy (59.59). The Mount's other top-10 finishers at the invite were Nicholas Starvaggi in the 1650 free (16:57.69), and Wilson in the 200 breast (2:09.17).
The H2ounds Invitational marks the final competition of the fall semester for the Mountaineers. Competition in 2019 starts with a dual meet at home against La Salle on Senior Day on January 26.
