Men’s Swimming & Diving Clipped by VMI in Season Opening Meet

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 6, 2017) – The Mount St. Mary's University men's swimming and diving team took first place in six events, but was clipped by VMI, 107-98, in the season opening meet on Friday at the Mount Swimming Pool.


The Mountaineers started strong as they claimed victory in the 400 medley relay to open the meet. Ryan Carroll, Aidan McCormick, Thomas de Xavier and Will Twizell combined for a a time of 4:06.14 to take the top spot in the event.

Three of the Mount's top performers from a season ago collected a win apiece in individual events. Twizell won the 100 IM with a time of 1:01.34, McCormick registered the top time in the 50 breast in 30.86, and Brock Cudahy earned a first-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 55.03. The Mount's other individual win was by freshman Ryan Carroll, who clocked in at 2:02.74 in the 200 free for his first collegiate win.

Mount St. Mary's closed out the meet with a first-place performance in the 400 free relay as the team of Cudahy, Twizell, Carroll and John Wilson registered a time of 3:41.18 for the win.
