The Mountaineers got their first draw of the season over the weekend at American to move to 0-3-1 overall on the year. Mount St. Mary's held a 1-0 advantage for the majority of the second half following Joel Tshiani's 47th minute goal, but American tallied the game-tying score in the 84th minute on a penalty kick to send the game into overtime. Both teams were held off the scoresheet in the extra periods, as the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Bobby Edwards made a season-high seven saves in net for the Mount.

Elias Ordonez and Tshiani are the two Mount players with goals on the season, while Jonathan Fawole and Jonathan Godette have an assist apiece. Edwards has started all four games in goal, posting a .692 save percentage and 1.89 goals against average.

The Bison opened their season with a 2-1 victory over Northeast Conference opponent Bryant, before falling to La Salle (2-1) and Navy (4-0) in their ensuing pair of matches to drop to 1-2 on the year. Senior forward Victor Guirma leads the squad with two goals, and junior midfielder Andres Gomez has the other for the Bison. Carlos Caro has posted a .500 save percentage and 2.33 goals against average in three starts between the pipes.

The Mount owns a 7-9-5 all-time record against Howard after winning each of the last three vs. the Bison, including the most recent matchup in 2012. The Mountaineers are 3-5-3 at home against Howard and 4-4-2 on the road.

The Mountaineers welcome in Army for a match this Saturday (Sept. 15) under the lights at 7 p.m.
