The Mount St. Mary's baseball team erupted for 16 runs in game two to split the double header at Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks won the first game over the Mountaineers 7-6 off of a walk-off but the Mount topped the Shore 16-5 in the second game.
In game one, freshman Bryant Shives and junior Jared Urban led the Mountaineers offense in game one after they combined for four hits, four runs batted in, two doubles, and a run scored. Senior Patrick Causa added a 3-for-3 game with a run scored, a walk, and a stolen base in the clean-up spot. Junior Owen Wosleger picked up the other RBI for the Mount after he went 2-for-4 in the second slot.
In game two, nine Mountaineers drove in at least one run in game two. Alex Kriss, Trevor Leamer, and CJ Kozorosky led the Mount with three runs batted in each. Kriss, Pat Daly, and Ryan Haddaway all tabbed multi-hit games in the win. Daly had a perfect 3-for-3 day with three runs scored and a double in the win. A.J. Narcise added a 1-for-1 ballgame with a run scored and a RBI. Myles Nicholson tabbed another multi-steal game for the Mount. Noah Smith continued his dominance in the start for Mount St. Mary's as he pitched five innings while he allowed no earned runs in the win.

ABOUT THE RETRIEVERS
UMBC baseball put up double digit runs for the second consecutive day, defeating Coppin State 16-2 and winning their third straight game on Wednesday. Christian Torres led the Retrievers with three hits and four RBI as he continues his hot start to the year.
ALL-TIME SERIES WITH UMBC
The Retrievers own a 39-12 advantage in the all-time series with the Mountaineers, including a 12-9 record at E.T. Straw Family Stadium in Emmitsburg. Last season, the Retrievers won the only meeting between the two teams, 9-7. UMBC has won 10 out of the last 11 meetings between the teams but the Mount won the last meeting in Emmitsburg, 5-3, on April 3, 2016.
