June 23, 2018 -- Mount St. Mary's University shortstop Patrick Causa was named to the 2018 Coastal Plain League (CPL) Select Team for their game against the USA Collegiate National Team on June 27.
Causa was named the starting shortstop for the game, as he leads the entire CPL in batting average (.458), doubles (7), and on-base percentage (.543). Causa, an All-Northeast Conference Second Team selection this year for Mount St. Mary's, was named the CPL Hitter of the Week on June 18 after registering nine hits in five games, including a pair of extra-base knocks, to go along with four runs and three RBIs. The Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania native posted a .632 on-base percentage and .750 slugging percentage during the week.
The 2018 CPL Select Team takes on the USA Collegiate National Team on Wednesday, June 27 at 3 p.m. at the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary, NC. Before the game, players from the CPL Select Team will work out in front of MLB Scouts as part of the CPL's new agreement with the MLB to bring Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP) events to players for the 2018 season.
