Seven Run Inning Pushes Central Connecticut Past Mount St. Mary's In Series Finale

Emmitsburg, Md. (2017) - Vaughn Parker II and Dalton Clouser recorded multi-hit games but a seven run inning helped Central Connecticut push past Mount St. Mary's 11-3 on Saturday afternoon. Jared Urban, Zach Hostetter, and Clouser each had one RBI for the Mount's offense.

The Blue Devils started the game hot by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Ryan Costello hit a solo home run down the right field line for the first run of the game. He was followed by a double to left centerfield by Mitch Guilmette that plated TT Bowens.

The Mountaineers got those runs back in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 2 apiece. Hostetter doubled down the left field line that scored Tyler Post and later Clouser singled through the right side that plated Parker.

CCSU added one run in the top of the fifth inning before exploding for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning. The scoring was led by Ryan Costello who hit a three RBI triple to left centerfield and Bowens who hit a bomb to left center field for a solo home run that made it a 10-2 game.

Urban hit a sacrifice fly to right field for the Mount in the bottom of the seventh and Dylan Maher hit a sacrifice fly to right field for the Blue Devils in the top of the ninth.

Seth Schubert (0-7) picked up the loss for the Mount St. Mary's while Jared Gallegher (3-1) picked up the win for Central Connecticut.

The Mount returns home after Easter break for a game against Georgetown on Tuesday, April 18 at 3:30 pm.
