Emmitsburg, Md. (April 11, 2017) - Post, Stewart, and Urban all drove in a run but Mount St. Mary's was topped by George Mason 19-4 on Tuesday afternoon.
George Mason took the early lead by blasting a home run in the top of the first and second innings. Tyler Nelin hit a grand slam in the first inning and Brady Acker hit a three run homer to leftfield giving the Patriots the early 7-0 lead.
Dennis Stewart hit a RBI single in the bottom of the second that plated Will Enrico for the Mount's first run of the game. Tyler Post scored on a wild pitch in the next at bat that made it a 7-2 game. Jared Urban brought in Vaughn Parker II with a single through the right side of the infield for the Mountaineer's third run.
The Patriots still poured it on scoring four more runs in the top of the third inning, two runs in the top of the sixth inning, and five runs in the top of the seventh inning that took control of the game 18-3. Jon Hansen hit a three run home run in the seventh inning for three of George Mason's five runs that inning.
Tyler Post singled up the middle that plated Dalton Clouser for Mount St. Mary's fourth run of the game while John Callahan hit a pinch hit home run in the top of the ninth inning for Mason to finish the scoring.
Josh Little (0-1) picked up the loss in the decision for the Mount while Bryce Nightengale (1-3) picked up the win for the Patriots.
Mount St. Mary's welcomes Central Connecticut for a three game series starting Thursday, April 13 at 3 pm.
