The Mountaineers took three of four from Wagner this past weekend to improve to 6-14 in Northeast Conference play on the season. The Mount scored six runs in the final two innings to come from behind for a 6-5 victory in the opening game of the series, before holding Wagner to just one run combined in Saturday's doubleheader to collect 3-0 and 2-1 victories. In the final game of the series on Sunday, Patrick Causa tied the game with a two-out two-run triple in the ninth, but the Mount eventually fell by a 9-8 final in extra innings as the Seahawks grabbed their lone win of the series.
The Mountaineer freshmen helped guide the team to the series win over Wagner, led by the middle infield duo of Patrick Causa and Alex Kriss. The pair combined for a 13-for-33 (.394) line with five runs scored and four RBIs, while fellow rookie Michael Kuypers continued his strong freshman campaign on the mound, collecting a win and a save in the series as he allowed just one earned run and three total baserunners in 5.2 innings of work.

The Blackbirds sit in fifth place in the NEC with a 5-9 mark in league play and 11-26 mark overall. They dropped the final three games of their series with Central Connecticut, and were downed by St. John's in non-conference play last time out as their losing streak extended to four straight. Charles Misiano (.333 avg.) and Brian Lamboy (.307) are the two Blackbirds hitting over .300 on the year, while Luis Arias leads the team with three homers and Tommy Jakubowski owns a team-best 20 RBIs.
Mount St. Mary's and LIU Brooklyn have met 82 times in series history with the Blackbirds holding a 55-27 advantage, including a 22-13 mark in Emmitsburg. The two teams split the season series in 2015 as the Mount salvaged a split by winning the final two games, 2-1 and 12-2.
The Mountaineers head to Sacred Heart for their final road series of the regular season as they play four games against the Pioneers. Opening pitch in game one is set for Friday, May 6 at 3 p.m.
