Mount Baseball Opens Florida Trip with Two-Game Series with Ohio State

MOUNT UPDATE:  The Mount opened the 2013 season by taking two of three games from Iona at home last weekend.  Sam Nott paced the Mountaineer offense, hitting .556 with two home runs and six RBI in the three-game series.  Andrew Clow hit .444 in the series while Tom Healy was 3-for-8 (.375) with a home run and four RBI.  On the mound, Thomas Williams picked up the win in the season opener, allowing one earned run in five innings. 

OHIO STATE UPDATE:  The Buckeyes are 1-2 on the year, falling to Mercer (6-5) and Notre Dame (13-3) while defeating St. John's (3-1) in Sarasota, Fla., last weekend.  Ohio State plays a pair of games against South Dakota State before playing the Mountaineers in Florida.  Patrick Porter hit .400 (4-for-10) with a home run and two RBI in the opening three games to pace Ohio State's offense.  On the mound, Brad Goldberg tossed seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in the 3-1 win over St. John's.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES:  The Mount and Ohio State will be meeting for the first time on Saturday night.

UP NEXT: The Mount rounds out the Florida trip for a three-game series with St. Bonaventure, and single games with Michigan and Air Force.
