Dave Gage

Dave Gage enters his third year at the Mount in 2026. Gage was named Associate Head Coach in September of 2025.

In Gage’s time at The Mount the pitching staff has broke six records including Strikeouts, K/9, and Batting Average Against. The Mount pitching staff set the MAAC record in Strikeouts with 507 in 2024 and led the MAAC in strikeouts per game in 2025. Mount pitchers have also garnered multiple individual accolades including two freshman All-Americans. Three pitchers have earned All-Conference honors and won MAAC Rookie of the Year in 2024. The Mount ERA has lowered by over a run since Gage’s time at the Mount.

Gage came to Emmitsburg in July of 2023 after a six-year run as the head coach for the Stevenson University Mustangs. He guided the Owings Mills-based institution to over 100 wins during his tenure, which included three seasons of 20 or more wins. Gage left the Mustangs with the highest winning percentage as Head Coach in program history.

Student-athletes under his watch earned four All-Regional selections, with three MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Year honors, and 10 All-Conference awards with three more earning honorable mention status. In the classroom, Gage's teams won Academic Awards presented by the American Baseball Coaches Association in all six years.

Before his time outside Baltimore, he served as the head coach of his alma mater, Southern Vermont College, from 2013-17. The Mountaineers set a program record for wins in 2016, taking a runner-up spot in the New England Collegiate Conference. Nine players in that span also went on to earn placements on All-Conference teams. Gage is the all-time leader for wins as a head coach at SVC.

A 2010 graduate of SVC and valedictorian of his class, Gage served as captain and starting second basemen, compiling a .305 career batting average and holding the highest on-base percentage (.480) in program history. He also towed the rubber as a relief pitcher, earning a program record nine saves. He was inducted into the school's athletic hall of fame in 2016.
