FIRST FIVE
1. The Mount dropped its NEC opener, 70-45, at Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon in a rematch of last year's NEC Championship game. The Colonials jumped out to a 20-3 lead to cruise to the victory. Gregory Graves led the Mountaineers with 14 points and 11 rebounds for his second career double-double. Andrew Smeathers added a season-high 14 points in the loss. The Mount shot just 13-of-52 (25.0 percent) from the field in the game, including 5-of-25 (20.0 percent) in the first half.
2. The Mount has struggled on offense, averaging 40.0 points while shooting 24-of-102 (23.5 percent) from the field over the past two games. Overall, the Mount is averaging 56.2 points per game, and has been held under 50 points five times this season.
3. Junior Gregory Graves returned to the lineup in a big way, posting his second career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds at Robert Morris. Graves, who missed the previous two games with a concussion, is averaging 8.1 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game.
4. Junior Andrew Smeathers scored a season-high 14 points in the loss at Robert Morris. The transfer from Butler is now averaging 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in four games.
5. The Mount hosts Central Connecticut on Thursday, January 8, at Knott Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
