FIRST FIVE
1. Mount St. Mary's lost its final non-conference game of the season, 69-35, at Old Dominion on December 29. Junior Andrew Smeathers scored a season-high 12 points for the Mount in the game. Mount St. Mary's shot just 22.0 percent (11-of-50) in the game, including 14.8 percent (4-of-27) in the second half. Taylor Danaher collected a team-high eight rebounds in the loss.
2. Mount St. Mary's and Robert Morris will be meeting for the 24th time over the past 10 seasons in one of the Northeast Conference's top rivalries. The two schools have met in the NEC playoffs in seven of the past nine years, including last year's NEC Championship game won by the Mount, 88-71. Robert Morris has won 13 of the past 16 regular season matchups between the two teams, but the Mount is 4-3 against the Colonials in the NEC Tournament over that span, including wins at top-seeded RMU in each of the past two years.
3. Mount St. Mary's is 13th in the nation in effective height according to KenPom.com. That figure is calculated using minutes played and the heights of the players on the court at that time.
4. Mount St. Mary's does not have a player averaging in double figures this season. Andrew Smeathers paces the balanced attack at 9.0 points per game. The Mount has nine players averaging four or more points per game.
5. The Mount visits Wagner on Monday night with a 7:00 p.m. matchup in a rematch of last year's NEC semifinal game won by the Mount, 77-72.
