Michael Paulus will begin his first year at Mount St. Mary's in 2013 as the Director of Athletic Development. He is directly responsible for the oversight of all aspects related to revenue generation for the Mount St. Mary’s athletic department, including all annual fund, major gift, and capital project initiatives. Paulus will also lead all corporate athletic partnerships, team fundraising activities, as well as all phases of the Mount Club and its everyday operations.
Prior to Mount St. Mary’s, Paulus worked at Virginia Commonwealth University where he was the Director of the Ram Athletic Fund. In his role, Paulus led all day-to-day operations of the annual fund for the Athletics Department. His responsibilities included raising funds to support the school’s athletic endeavors, coordinating donor travel, planning all fundraising events, as well as directing the first ever reseating of the Stuart C. Siegel Center for the men’s basketball 2013-14 season. Additionally, Paulus was also in charge of hospitality, parking, the Rams Young Alumni program, and the student donor group “Rowdy Rams”.
Prior to VCU, Paulus was a student-athlete at both the University of North Carolina (2007-2009) and the College of William and Mary (2010-2012), where he played quarterback. He graduated from William and Mary in the spring of 2012 with a degree in Kinesiology and Business, then completed his Master’s Degree in Sports Management at the VCU Center for Sport Leadership program from 2012-2013.
