September 27, 2017—The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's cross country teams return to action on Friday at the 44th annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University. The Paul Short Run is the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the nation with approximately 6,000 athletes from nearly 450 colleges and high schools slated to compete this year.
RACE INFORMATION: Both the men's and women's team will be racing in the Brown Race at the Paul Short Run. The men's eight-kilometer race begins at 12:15 p.m. while the women's six-kilometer race will start at 1:00 p.m.
THE OPPOSITION: The men's 42-team field in the Brown Race includes Colgate, Columbia, Elon, George Washington, Hartford, Hofstra, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Loyola, Marist, the Mount, Niagara, Richmond, Rider, St. Joseph's, Siena, St. Francis Brooklyn and VCU. The women's 43-team field in the Brown Race includes Binghamon, Boston University, Bryant, Canisius, Colgate, Columbia, Fairfield, Georgetown, Hofstra, Lafayette, Liberty, Loyola, Monmouth, the Mount, Niagara, Rider, Saint Francis U, St. Joseph's, Siena, St. Francis Brooklyn, St. John's, UMBC and VCU.
MOUNT UPDATE: The Mountaineers were last in action at the National Catholic Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame on September 15. Nicolas Fransham paced the Mountaineers with a 21st place finish for the men. Ashleigh Kocher was the top Mountaineer on the women's team. For a full recap, click HERE.
THE MOUNT AND THE PAUL SHORT RUN: The Mount's last appearance at the Paul Short run came back in 2014. That season, the Mount's Kristen Galligan finished in third place in a field of 360 runners in the Brown race to lead the way.
