Mount Cross Country Heads to Mason Invitational

The Mount men's and women's cross country team continues their season this Saturday, September 29, as they head to the George Mason Invitational at the Oatlands Plantation Course in Leesburg, Va.

PARTICIPANTS: University of District of Columbia, George Mason University, La Salle, St. Bonaventure, UMBC, American University, Howard, JMU, and Mount St. Mary's

THE COURSE:  The men will be running an 8-kilometer while the women will be running a 6-kilometer

LAST TIME OUT: Both the Mount's men and women team took home a second place finish at the Towson Invitational.  Tommy Gruschow paced himself, finishing in first out of the men. While senior Megan Kinsella also ran away with a first place finish in the women's race.

MOUNT PAIR EARNS NEC HONORS Sophomore Tommy Gruschow named Athlete of The Week for the second time this year. Gruschow finished in first place with a time of 26:23.36 for the 5-mile course. Megan Kinsella also received Co-Athlete of The Week after finishing with a time of 19:00.14, coming in first.

PRESEASON POLLS: The Mount men's cross country team was picked fourth and the women eighth in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.

UP NEXT: Mount St. Mary's will participate in the Blue & Gold Invitational on October 12, 2012. The race will be held at Frightland Course in Middletown, Del.
