Top Moment No. 15: Bernard Finishes Cross Country Career With Fourth-Straight All-NEC Selection

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Over the weekend Serena Williams and Roger Federer showed their dominance on the tennis courts by winning their fifth and seventh Wimbledon career titles, respectively. Both are a model of consistency on the tennis court, but at Mount St. Mary's cross country runner Dylan Bernard (Urbana, Md./Urbana) has been a constant Top-10 finisher at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Cross Country Championships. Bernard runs into our No. 15 moment after becoming the third Mount cross country runner to earn All-NEC honors all four years of his career.

Bernard, who was named the Top-20 Moment in last year's countdown, earned All-NEC honors all four years as a member of the Mount cross country team. The senior saved his best finish for his final run at the NEC Championships after finishing fourth with a time of 26:40.10. He becomes the third Mountaineer to earn All-Northeast Conference honors all four years, joining Tim Kitching (1997-2000) and former teammate Matt Logie (2005-08).

The local product finished sixth at the 2010 NEC Cross Country Championships with a time of 25:53.9 on the 8-kilometer course. The senior finished fifth with a time of 27:01.7 in 2008 and ninth with a time of 26:49.4 in 2009 to garner All-NEC honors in his first three seasons before concluding his career the same way it started with an All-NEC selection.

The men's cross country team finished third at the NEC Cross Country Championships while the Mount women's cross country team placed eighth.
