Mount St. Mary's University has announced its 2009 Cross Country
Schedule. The Mount opens the season by hosting the Mount St.
Mary's 5K Duals on campus.
The Mount opens the season by hosting the 5K Duals on Friday,
September 4th. This will be the sixth straight season the Mount
has opened its schedule by hosting the event. Last year, Navy won
the women's meet while Maryland-Baltimore County won the men's
side. Kyle Ryan (New Market, Md./Linganore)
finished in 11th place overall to pace the Mount.
The team returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Navy
Invitational. It will be the second-straight season the Mount has
appeared at that meet. The following week, the Mount will get a
chance to preview the Northeast Conference Championship course when
it heads to the Quinnipiac Invitational on September 19.
On October 2nd, the Mount heads to the prestigious Paul Short
Invitational hosted by Lehigh. Two weeks later, the Mountaineers
head to the Penn State National Invitational on October 16.
The Northeast Conference Championships, which are being hosted by
Quinnipiac University, are on October 31st. Last year, the Mount
men's team finished second at the NEC's with three student-athletes
earning All-NEC honors. Ryan was fourth overall at the NEC's with
Dylan Bernard (Frederick, Md./Urbana) finishing in
fifth place. Matt Logie (Germantown,
Md./Northwest), who graduated this past May, finished 13th
overall to earn All-NEC honors for the fourth-straight season. The
Mount women finished eighth last year at the NEC's.
The season concludes with the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals hosted by
Maryland-Eastern Shore on Nov. 14.
